Preliminary data about mesophotic coralligenous off SCI of Capo Berta

Previati M, Enrico G, Palma M

Abstract

Aim of this project was to characterize the coralligenous epibenthic assemblages off the Capo Berta SCI (Ligurian Sea, Italy) in nine sites at three depths. The community structures appeared extremely variable but at all sites fishing nets and negative impacts of trawling were recorded, highlighting the importance and urgency to amplify knowledge regarding coralligenous biocenosis in order to develop appropriate conservation plans.
